Mr. Infrastructure

My EMC colleague, Edward Newman, CTO of the Infrastructure Consulting Services organization, recently started to blog. Edward is quietly conspiring behind the scenes to change IT. :-)

Mr Infrastructure is spot on from the customers where I have more cart blance access. Lots of customers have the belt, suspenders, etc approach. IT folks are notoriously cautious…and hate to be blamed for data loss. Most of the DCTM systems I see have lazy content servers…that is, no real CPU activity on those servers. I have been building HA DCTM infrastructure for a while now and know that most of the tools for estimation overcompensate for CPU size.

Thanks, Thomas, for your comment. In terms of DCTM infrastructure support, what kinds of counters (e.g. Performance Monitor, JMX-based), events (e.g. WBEM/WMI), etc. provide the most operational insight (usefulness)?
