Just wanted to weigh in here as well. Having the forums outside should increase involvement in the forums. It may also help lead to the formation of alternative resources like a Wiki. Alfresco has one, why can’t we?

The easier Documentum is to use, implement, and integrate, the more we can focus on the strategic aspect of ECM and less on “how do I get it to do this?”

Thanks, Fabian, for providing such a clear example of an opportunity to embrace cocreation. To me, this thread is a no-brainer: Documentum forums should become open. You’ve articulated “why” quite well in the above forum thread, too. Open forums–in general, not just for support–represent a win for all involved, EMC, its partners, its customers, its development community, consultants, etc.

Craig, there has been talk on the DCTM support forums about bringing the boards outside of PowerLink (much like the VMware forums) so that the world at large can benefit and contribute to this this information and its use.

I think the boards are a prime example of the type of information begging to be freed from a legacy view of information.
