This month I got a new home PC, finally replacing a machine I bought over five years ago. It’s amazing to see Moore’s Law in action just using these two computers as a sample set:

• Jul-1998: 400 MHz Pentium 2 CPU; 384 MB RAM; 11 GB HDD; CD-ROM drive; 3.5” FDD; USB 1.0; Windows NT 4.0; 19″ CRT
• Nov-2003: 3.0 GHz Pentium 4 CPU; 1 GB RAM; two 120 GB SATA HDDs; DVD+RW drive; IEEE 1394 and USB 2.0; Windows XP; 20″ LCD
